Just when you thought the Jay Leno/NBC debacle drama was over, Jimmy Kimmel stopped by The David Letterman Show last night. In usual fashion, Kimmel put on his Leno-lisp to relay the phone call he received from Leno after the show Kimmel did dressed as Leno (complete with chin extension!) Despite Leno telling Kimmel he thought the show was funny, he later told the press that he felt as though Kimmel had sucker punched him. Kimmel said he didn’t think he sucker punched Leno, but after looking it up in the dictionary, turns out that was exactly what he did.
Kimmel and Letterman reminisced on the days when so much of their shows were built around razzing each other on the air. Kimmel said it was all in good fun,and no one got hurt, to which Letterman agreed, saying, “Conan didn’t get hurt.”
Eyes wide, Kimmel said, “I think Conan got hurt.”
As much as we would all like to move past the whole ordeal, I have a feeling that as long as people are still laughing at the debacle, late night will continue playing on the drama.
It’s a shame that part of Conan’s out from NBC prohibits him from TV appearances. If he could make appearances all of this would be over now, but it’ll be back on the menu in a few months when O’Brien is finally able to sit down on late night and tell his side of the story.
