The actress who played Winnie, the adorable love interest of Fred Savage’s character in The Wonder Years, has announced she’s pregnant.
Danica McKellar went on to study at UCLA where she got her degree in Mathematics. She went on to pen two books, Math Doesn’t Suck and Kiss My Math, both of which went on to become best sellers. She started dating composer Mike Verta in 2001 and married him March 22, 2009. This will be their first child together.
“I’m nearing the end of my first trimester and I’m so excited – I’ve been bursting to tell people,” said McKellar to People Magazine in an exclusive interview. She apparently put off her suspicions about her pregnancy at first. “I was in the middle of a really intense deadline for my book,” said McKellar in reference to her new book Hot X: Algebra Exposed which comes out this August. “I wanted to put off the [pregnancy] test because I didn’t want any distractions. That only lasted a day – I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I caved! You can’t try to put that off.”
About the ultrasound, McKellar said, “Me and Mike looked at each other and we could not stop the tears,” she says. “We are so happy.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
