If you’ve never heard of The Lonely Island, you probably haven’t been watching Saturday Night Live for the last five years. The group, which was discovered by Lorne Michaels, consists of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. Known for creating the MacGruber skit and hilarious song parodies that air on SNL as “Digital Shorts.” Some of their most memorable song parodies include “Dick in a Box” and “I’m On a Boat.”

The hilarity of The Lonely Island song parodies is often touch and go, and this week, they actually fell on the funny side with the video for their song, “Boombox.”

Playing on the simplicity of the days when all you had to do was bust out a boom box to bring on the love, the song from their 2009 album, “Incredibad,” features Julian Casablancas from The Strokes. It also has some bizarre footage of old folks getting busy, which I must admit turned my stomach just a little.

While “Boombox” is not one of their funniest videos to date, it is good for a laugh. The lyrics coupled with over-the-top imagery will at least bring a smile to your lips. What better way to start the work week than with a good chuckle? It’s sure to set the tone for the rest of your week.
