The third season of The Celebrity Apprentice premiered Sunday night with a bang. The celebrities are playing for charities of their chose and the money raised from each task is given to the winning project manager’s charity. I was amazed to see all these celebrities that were very well known, especially after seeing the line up for Dancing With The Stars. It seems that Donald has more pull in Hollywood than the ABC producers.
The men’s team (Rock Solid) consists of Olympic gold medal winner Michael Johnson, Poison front man Bret Michaels, Comedian Sinbad, Wrestler Bill Goldburg, Baseball superstar Darryl Strawberry, Chief Curtis Stone and Former Governor of Illinois Rob Blagojevich.
On the women’s team (Tenacity) we have music manager Sharon Osbourne, Singer Cyndi Lauper, Actress Holly Robinson Pete, Olympian Summer Sanders, Victoria Secret Model Selita Ebanks, writer and comedian Carol Liefer, wrestler and singer Maria Kenellis.
This week the teams chose the other team’s project manager; the women chose Brett Michaels as the men’s project manager and the men chose Cyndi Lauper to lead the women’s team.
Each team was trying to sabotage the other by choosing a weak player. The task was to run a diner for three hours and try to raise as much money as possible for their charity.
Brett Michaels was playing for the American Diabetes Association since he himself is diabetic and has to take insulin shots four times a day. He went to work fast and delegated responsibilities to other teammates that had more experience. This seemed to be a smart move. Cyndi Lauper was frazzled and disorganized, but the others pulled together and took the lead.
The men focused on their celebrity friends and had an expensive menu, while the women focus on street traffic and had a cheaper menu. The women raised $39,559 while the men raised $57,905. The men won, and $100,000 was given to Brett’s charity.
In the board room, tensions were high. The women’s team was trying to avoid questions and beat around the bush about who should go home. Donald Trump was worn down by this display and proceeded to use some unsavory language to get the women’s attention. In the end, the women felt like it was Carol who didn’t do her share of the work, and she was sent home.
This episode was great and I can’t wait for the next. This season does seem to have a lot more cursing than usual, but the teams seem to be well stacked. I am just waiting for the moments when Sharon Osbourne and Bill Goldburg explode. It will be legendary.
