The coroner on the Corey Haim case has officially announced that, while they recovered several prescription drug canisters from Haim’s apartment, there were no illegal drugs in his system.  Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter declined to identify what the prescription drugs were.

Haim was experiencing flu-like symptoms days before his death and his mother recently expressed to the public that the coroner had said Haim died from pulmonary congestion.  She also said that the coroner told her he had an enlarged heart and water in his lungs.  However, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter declined to enlighten the public on the matter, stating only preliminary information had been released to Haim’s mother Judy.

“We are not confirming anything,” said Winter.

“The cause of death is still pending.”  The official autopsy was done on Thursday, but the cause of death will not be announced until the toxicology reports come back, which could take up to two months.

This news comes as a pleasant surprise since Haim’s struggle with substance abuse was rather widely known.  Haim was recently trying to revive his career, having just finished several film projects.  If anything, his death was completely accidental in my opinion.  I only hope the poor man did not suffer in his final moments.
