The coroner on the Corey Haim case has officially announced that, while they recovered several prescription drug canisters from Haim’s apartment, there were no illegal drugs in his system. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter declined to identify what the prescription drugs were.
Haim was experiencing flu-like symptoms days before his death and his mother recently expressed to the public that the coroner had said Haim died from pulmonary congestion. She also said that the coroner told her he had an enlarged heart and water in his lungs. However, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter declined to enlighten the public on the matter, stating only preliminary information had been released to Haim’s mother Judy.
“We are not confirming anything,” said Winter.
“The cause of death is still pending.” The official autopsy was done on Thursday, but the cause of death will not be announced until the toxicology reports come back, which could take up to two months.
This news comes as a pleasant surprise since Haim’s struggle with substance abuse was rather widely known. Haim was recently trying to revive his career, having just finished several film projects. If anything, his death was completely accidental in my opinion. I only hope the poor man did not suffer in his final moments.

I knew Corey before he started acting. We shared a few years of friendship and a couple of times I didn't see him for periods of time while working as an actor. The last time we saw each other was at the front doors of the public school we went to. He had a girlfriend who he was all over like a fat kid on a smarty. Her, Corey, and I stood in front of the school to say our goodbye's in which I thought wouldn't really be the last time. What did I know, I was only about 10 years old. Hugs, and sadness were all around us as he drove off with his Mom. Over the years I came to realize that Corey was gone for good. However, it was television and movies that I believe to this day, kept my memories of our friendship which I have always held on to. Sure, I tried contacting him various times, but just never succeeded. Can't answer why I never got any response but have always assumed my messages never reached him. Almost like trying to contact leaders of government. I became to realize that my efforts were just not working, so as all his fans, I just followed him through television and movies. I was proud to tell people who I met throughout my life, that I had a close friendship with him in our younger years. Regardless of not speaking to him anymore, and learning about his addictions. Some people would mention him as a drug addict and I'd just let them know that he is not alone and until you walk in their shoes you will never know. I never really like those people after that. In my mind, addictions are a desease, and a desease is something very hard to overcome. Some desease's we can't even cure. Regardless, Corey was still that friend of mine at about age 10 back in public school. He was just an amazing person to be around with. He respected me, my family, and our friendship. Needless to say, if Corey wasn't bitten by the acting bug, I'd tend to think that we would stil have our close friendship and that his addictions would of never got to the way they did. I, personally blame the Entertainment business. You take a child at such a young age out of public school who is used to just doing school work and playing with his friends, and all of a sudden you change that childs life into something that dreams are made of, than you give that child nothing but fame and fortune throughout all his younger years, than one day, it just all goes away. How does someone deal with that. How about dealing with the pressures and stress associated with being a young actor, and not only that but dealing with the same pressures we all dealt with growing up. It has just got to be hard. Corey turned to addictions. Corey just needed something, I believe, to help handle everything going on and that lead to more and more. Isn't that how most addictions start? Corey just couldn't kick the habit. We can't say he didn't try, and we can't say he didn't. An addiction is a desease though and sometimes deseases just have a way of finding themselves back. Regarless, to this day, I will swear that Corey was an amazing person and even though I really didn't know him for many years until he passed, I think he would of held onto some of those qualities that I knew, throughout the rest of his life. I bet you his friends, like Corey Feldman, can tell me that I am right, he had the same old style and carried it on through the rest of his life. My merories will stay with me for the rest of my life, and keeping these is something no one can take away from me. Rest in Peace old friend.:)

Nice Joe, nothing like a kind word for the family. Insensitivity like yours makes me puke. Yeah, he had talent, more than you I'd wager. Yes he made money and lots of it. But that has nothing to do with the tragedy of a life being lost too early in their existence.

To Brad Fitzakerley... Corey was very lucky to have a friend like you when he did. It is too bad he didn't have more people like you around him.

i'm so tired of hearing the largest part of this great loss to many being about his drug problems. just because he was an actor doesn't mean he wasn't human, and many people have or had drug issues. so why is it so f-in hard for people (especially the press) to see the tragedy in the fact that a person has died, and died at a very young age. i respect him for at least trying to clean up no matter how many times he had to start over. i believe in my heart that he was clean and if given the chance he would of came back large, but the entertainment community turned there backs on one of there own. so in the end my great sympathy goes out to his family (especially his mother) and to all his TRUE friends, and don't listen to what many say, they just have not a clue in the world of understanding of what it's like to walk along his path. and thank you Brad for never giving up on him even through out the years and blocking what others said about him. you are the true meaning of a TRUE friend.

Dear Brad, I'm sure Corey would have tried to get in touch with you but perhaps he couldn't get through to you either. For me, even though I don't get in touch with my old childhood friends, it doesn't mean that I've forgotten them. They will forever stay my friends till the day I die and I'm sure that Corey would have considered you his friend till the last days of his life.
