It’s the day after the Academy Awards, and while many of us are nursing red carpet hangovers and wondering what happened to our Oscar between last night and this morning, the folks over at Cracked.com are working on their guaranteed Oscar nomination next year.

Okay, maybe they’re not going to win an Oscar over at Cracked, but they should. After all, this video clip is carefully composed using the basic elements of every Oscar-winning film ever made.

We have a wealthy, successful protagonist whose friend is concerned something may be missing from his life. Protagonist reassures his friend nothing is missing, and his success will never waver. Hot on the heels of nothing missing is a mentally handicapped young man protagonist is now charged with caring for. Frustration garners admiration from possible romantic interest, leading to a heightened sense of meaning in protagonist’s life. Of course, this heightened sense of meaning is followed by a completely unrelated string of events, there’s a goofy catch phrase that dorks of the ages will be posting as their Facebook status for years to come, and… queue beautifully composed theme music.

Just while watching this trailer of all trailers, I thought of at least three movies that fell perfectly into this category. How many can you think of?
