If Jersey Shore didn’t have enough publicity (hey any publicity is good publicity right?), a couple who fought with Ronnie and Sammi on a televised episode of the show are now taking MTV to court.

Apparently Joshua Thomas and Kristin Perrenod didn’t like how they were portrayed on camera.  The lawsuit filed in New Jersey superior court claims MTV edited the boardwalk fight “in a manner that was completely inconsistent with what really took place.”  The couple claims to have raw, unedited footage in DVD form to prove their claims.

The footage reportedly shows Sammi and Ronnie clearly antagonizing the couple, yelling profanity, insults and homophobic slurs before Thomas and Perrenod fought with them.  A production company source from behind the show tells TMZ, “There were several gay staff members that worked on the show and Ronnie always respected them and everyone else.”  The source had not seen the footage at the time of his quote.

The couple also claims they were intoxicated at the time they signed the release forms thus making them null and void.  Thomas and Perrenod are suing MTV, 459 Productions, Viacom, Ronnie and others, but the amount they are suing for has not been disclosed.

I can’t imagine why this couple might think they would be portrayed in a fair light on a show that’s not focused on them.  I can understand their frustration, but I can’t see them coming away from this with a lot of money in their pockets.

How do you think this will turn out?
