Ryan_Devlin_300x300Ryan Devlin has been cast opposite of William Shatner in the upcoming CBS, Twitter-inspired comedy, Shit My Dad Says. Devlin will play the role designed by Justin Halpern, who created a Twitter account to share with the world some of the wild things his opinionated, 74-year-old father has said since Halpern moved back in with him at twenty-nine.

Executives announced that Shatner would take on the role of “Dad,” back in February, launching the program into full production. Halpern has been working on the script with Peter Schumacher, and Will and Grace producers David Kohan and Max Mutchnik have signed on as executive producers.

Also cast in the series is Nicole Sullivan, who is set to play the role of Devlin’s sister-in-law.

Some of Devlin’s most recent television roles include Cougar Town, Big Shots and Veronica Mars.

The pairing of Shatner and Devlin promises to be as hilarious as Halpern’s Twitter stream, which is updated regularly with the outrageous shit his dad says. Shatner’s comedic edge will lend outrageous intensity and sarcasm to a series everyone on Twitter is anxiously anticipating.

No launch date has been set for the series, but as quickly as it’s all coming together, here’s hoping CBS adds Shit My Dad Says to their fall line-up.
