After spending Tuesday night in the hospital (forcing the boys to take the stage earlier than expected), Crystal Bowersox gave a performance where she sang her heart out on the American Idol stage last night.
Last week, Crystal was shaky on her Alanis Morissette cover, earning some rather unpleasant remarks from the judges. This week, despite being ill before, she went first and blasted out a beautiful rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Long as I Can See the Light,” turning the song into an almost religious experience. She showed no sign of sickness and was all smiles.
Simon Cowell admitted to “misunderestimating” (is that a word?) her and praised her for not playing up her illness for sympathy. Cowell called her vocal talent “incredible” while Randy Jackson said, You are the truth. You do what you do.” Ellen DeGeneres said Bowersox had “pure, raw, natural talent” and Kara DioGuardi loved the rock vibe that Bowersox gave the performance.
Bowersox had one of the strongest performances of the night, rocking alongside performers Siobhan Magnus (I love her name!) and Lilly Scott. Will Bowersox make it to the top and take the competition? I honestly don’t know, but it does look like she’ll at least be staying for next week.
