Crystal Bowersox 300x300American Idol has always had a “ladies first” policy for performances, but that was not the case last night.  Why?

I guess the American Idol producers didn’t want to have one of their people singing from a hospital bed.  Crystal Bowersox was in the hospital yesterday for Diabetes and unable to perform, so the ladies’ top ten performances were pushed back to tonight (Wednesday).

The fellas were called yesterday around 10:30 a.m. to let them know of the switch.  Their call time was moved up an hour to allow for more practice.  Of course, other problems arose from the quick switch.  The L.A. Times reports that “viewers who texted their votes got an automatic reply thanking them for voting for the corresponding girl (if you’re curious what the girls’ order would have been — and it’s telling, so we don’t blame you — here it is: Crystal Bowersox, Haeley Vaughn, Lacey Brown, Katie Stevens, Didi Benami, Michelle Delamore, Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus).”  The boys still did well despite the change with Big Mike Lynche taking the night with his rendition of James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”

Bowersox, a mother of one, has assured producers she will be performing for tonight’s show.
