Hitchcock_and_Grant_Silhouette_300x300For as long as there have been television shows, there have been celebrities guest starring on them. From kids programming like Sesame Street, to half-hour sitcoms like Seinfeld, Two and Half Men, and Murphy Brown, we’ve all seen our fair share of the Hollywood walk-on.

So which television show has the record for most celebrity guest stars?

It first debuted on December 17, 1989. Since that time, there have been more than 200 stars to appear on this show in some form or fashion. Most of the time, they just use their voice, but you can rest assure that their image will also be portrayed. We’re talking the cream of the crop, here.

Folks like Britney Spears, Woody Harrelson, Meryl Steep, Mel Gibson, Jay Leno, David Duchovny, Kid Rock, and many, many others.

While many were apprehensive at first, after the success of this show’s first season, celebrities were eagerly chomping at the bit to make appearances on what is now the longest running animated prime time television show in history.

Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons has gone on to be a cultural phenomenon. Few shows have been able to have the lasting affect that Marge, Homer, Lisa, Maggie and Bart have had on our society. The best part? It doesn’t look like it will be going anywhere soon.

Whew! I was worried we’d never get to see a Shia LaBeouf cameo in where all he does is go, “No no no no no no no…” C’mon, you know it’s coming.
