Extreme Makeover Home Edition Comes to East Texas

By Missy Armstrong on February 25th, 2010

Carr Family 600x300Extreme Makeover Home Edition has come to this writer’s small town and everyone here is abuzz.  Blue collar comedian and star of The Bill Engvall Show, Bill Engvall, is the celebrity builder.  East Texas will never be the same again.  The bus drove up to the home of Mike and Katrina Carr, in Mineola, Texas, this morning.

Mike and Katrina met while they were working at a summer camp for special needs kids. The couple got married and decided to adopt children from Kazakhstan who where abandoned. Ryanne and Rina Carr have Amniotic Band Syndrome and have lost limbs. Nikolas Carr has Sensory Integration Disorder. Mike has had pancreas and kidney transplants and still has frequent seizures.

The family faces their entire struggle with optimism and faith. Katrina home schools her kids because they would miss too many days of public school because of doctor’s appointments. Mike teaches environmental education at camps for special needs kids and also is an artist and jewelry designer.

This family was chosen for Extreme Makeover Home Edition because the three bedroom house has faulty wiring, plumbing problems and an old air filtration system. The septic tank often backs up, creating mold problems as well.

Ty Pennington and the whole gang are here to help. The house is scheduled to be demolished tomorrow and the new house will be revealed on March 4, 2010.  Come back to the Real TV Addict for the latest on this breaking story!

I'm excited, too, Michael, that our neighbors get this blessing. Can't wait to be a part of it.

Many squees were heard in our house this morning. I have the privilege of knowing Katrina and couldn't be happier for her and her family.
