Kelly Ripa showed off her new tattoo this morning on Live with Regis and Kelly.
Ripa has been married to her husband, Mark Consuelos, for thirteen years. She never took his name, but now she has it permanently ingrained on her wrist. The simple tattoo says “Consuelos” in a thick cursive wrapping around her wrist. “It’s a little inky, but it will heal,” said Ripa. This is the second tattoo (that we know about) on Ripa- the first being a rose/heart/wave thing on her ankle. She says it represents her “youthful stupidity.”
Ripa met her husband on the set of All My Children where she played Hayley Vaughan Santos. Consuelos played her lover Mateo Santos on the show. The couple have three children- Michael Joseph, Lola Grace, and Joaquin Antonio.
Now, Ripa has always struck me as the “girl next door,” even while on All My Children. I don’t think this tattoo changes my opinion either. Tattoos are becoming more and more commonplace in our society and I welcome it. I have a little ink myself (sorry Mom) and I must admit, it’s fun to have a bit of your personality expressed in art on your skin. I just hope that society and the reporters out there don’t cause any backlash over something that obviously means a lot to Mrs. Ripa.
