Conan_on_Twitter_300x300Anyone who’s been following the antics between comedians Conan O’Brien an Jay Leno knows that things have never really been the same since Conan took over the Tonight Show some seven odd months ago.  The battle of the late night comedy show hosts began after Leno’s new show couldn’t get the ratings in his new time slot.  Of course, the Tonight Show ratings took a dip as well, partly because Conan brought his own brand of comedy and antics to the late-night slot.  Obviously some of the old codgers who watched Leno couldn’t relate to the hip new youngster on their television sets that late at night.  Of course, they couldn’t follow Leno into a prime time slot because that would interfere with their evening of bingo.

After it all was said and done, Jay Leno took back the show he gave to Conan, and Conan took $40 million from NBC.

To be honest, I think Conan got the better end of the deal.  Screw NBC – everyone knows they’re going down the toilet anyway.  Between what they paid for the Olympics and their ratings, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think it’s only a matter of time before they either go lights out or change venues.  You can bet Comcast is rethinking their deal.

As for Conan? Well, he’s not staying completely silent.  News has spread fast today that he is now on Twitter.  Yes, it’s a real, verified, Conan O’Brien Twitter account.  He’s only got one tweet at the time of this post, but to me his bio says it all:

I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account.
