Bristol_Palin_300x300ABC Family has announced that Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah Palin, is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Palin will play herself in an episode where she meets and befriends Amy (Shailene Woodley) at a music program for teen moms.  The episode will be filmed this summer and air next season.  “Bristol Palin is the most famous teenage mother in America,” says executive producer Brenda Hampton.  “I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we’ve been exploring for a couple of seasons now.”

Bristol Palin (who is only 19) said in a public statement, “I am thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy.”

Someone please tell me how being a famous teenage mom is proof one can act?

If her mom wasn’t a former Vice Presidential candidate, no one would know who Bristol Palin is, nor would anyone (besides those involved) really care.  I fail to see how her bad choices make her a good role model for teenagers who watch this show.  Her baby’s daddy is in Playgirl for goodness sakes!  We’re glorifying this pampered girl saying that life is hard for teen moms.  Life is hard for ALL moms, not just teens.  ABC Family really needs to think about what they’re doing.
