Doctor Who has been traveling through space and time on BBC television for more than forty years. He has changed faces eleven times since the show’s incarnation in a clever plot twist that allows the Doctor to alter his body in order to heal physical damages. Eleven Doctors have graced the screen, with the most recent incarnation taking shape in the form of Matt Smith.
One of the most exciting things about the show is living vicariously through the Doctor’s various companions. Every season, he chooses one or two people to accompany him on his adventures. While the companions travel through space and time, much of the plot hinges around the Doctor and his developing friendship and understand with said companions. Most recently, Rose took on the roll through the ninth and partially through the tenth Doctor’s stay. Followed by Martha, and most recently runaway bride, Donna Noble, many Doctor Who fans have speculated over who would best portray the newest (and youngest) Doctor’s companion.
Amy Pond is her name, and she will be portrayed by Scottish actress, Karen Gillian. You can catch the adventures of Amy and the Doctor this Easter season on BBC.
Me, I’m still a little sad that David Tennant had to go. He has been one of my all-time favorite incarnations of the Doctor yet. I’ll still give the new guy a chance. After all, he’s the youngest actor to have ever taken on the role, which should provide an interesting new twist.
