Winter Olympics (8:00 p.m. EST, NBC)
Tonight’s schedule for the 2010 Winter Olympics looks like loads of fun. Figure skating’s ice-dancing event begins with live coverage. The United States has two competing teams in ice dancing: Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, and Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Skiers Ted Ligety and Bode Miller compete in the Super G final (fun!), and enjoy live women’s and men’s skeleton finals. Who are you rooting for?
Ricky Gervais Show (9:00 p.m. EST, HBOe)
Comedian Ricky Gervais has been cracking me up every since I first saw him in the original British version of The Office. Now he has his own show, and I couldn’t be happier. The series premiere opens with the title comedian, Karl Pilkington and Stephen Merchant discussing a variety of topics including population control, 20th-century inventions, prehistoric times, and the supernatural. The best part of this podcast-turned-TV series? It’s animated.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand (10:00 p.m. EST, STARZ)
On tonight’s episode, enemies Crixus (Manu Bennett) and Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) are charged with learning how to team-fight in order to beat a victorious champion in the arena. Batiatus (John Hannah) gets the chance of a lifetime to gain financial stability…the only catch is that it has to do with battling bands of gladiators. Yikes.
