(Editor’s Note: Tiger Woods’ public statement has now been made, and the full video can be seen above.  The post below was written prior to the actual broadcast and contains our writer’s thoughts prior to the statement. It appears that Tiger Woods’ public statement went about like most people expected.  The long and short of it? Tiger is remorseful, apologetic to his fans and the public,  but want’s everyone to stay out of his personal life.  Can you blame him? share your thoughts on this compelling statement in the comments below.)

Tiger Woods is back in the news this morning, preparing to deliver a public press conference, much to the dismay of the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA), and Woods’ fellow competitors in the PGA. During the conference, Woods will not be fielding any questions from the media, which caused the GWAA to boycott the conference, and withdraw the three journalists they were originally planning to have attend the conference.

Since the professional golfer’s marital problems and sex-scandal first came out in October of 2009, Woods has been the center of controversy. With at least three women coming forward with reports about their alleged sexual affairs with Tiger Woods after his bizarre car accident back in October, the scandal put America’s favorite golfer under extreme public scrutiny and criticism.

The specifics of Woods’ scheduled statement are unknown at this time, but the PGA tour commissioner did note that after the statement Woods would return for further treatment and therapy. Rumors have surfaced since the controversy that Woods was receiving treatment in a Mississippi sexual addiction clinic.

Much of the buzz surrounding this morning’s statement centers around Woods’ estranged wife, Elin Nordegren, and whether or not she should stand beside him throughout this troubled time in their marriage. Many, including myself, are simply tired of hearing about celebrities and their abundant infidelities, but I’ll admit, I’m interested to hear what he has to say for himself.
