In honor of Valentine’s Day, Daneboe and his cohorts at Gagfilms put together a video about stupid laws in the States as they pertain to lovers. Crazy USA Laws is part of an ongoing series exploring the ridiculous laws from state to state, like how it’s illegal in the state of Florida for a woman to accept a gift while wearing a bathing suit.
Growing up in the Quaker State (that’s Pennsylvania in case you weren’t sure,) we are no stranger to absurdity when it comes to the law. Did you know you can’t have more than sixteen women living together in the same house, even if they are your wife and daughters? Pennsylvania law considers that a brothel, but it’s okay for upwards of 120 men to live in the same household. I guess that’s why they haven’t discovered my man harem yet.
Pennsylvania also protects its residents from impromptu drunk marriages. Ignoring the fact that you have to apply for a marriage license and get a physical in a process that can take anywhere from fourteen to thirty days, Pennsylvania ministers are forbidden by law to perform a marriage ceremony if the bride or groom show up to the alter drunk.
In Morrisville, PA, women are required to obtain a permit before they can wear make-up. Housewives are also expected to thoroughly clean their floors, according to one ordinance, that bans them from hiding dirt and dust underneath the rug.
Personally, I’m surprised I haven’t been served a life sentence yet.
