In addition to making us giggle along Ben Stein in his Comcast commercials, Shaquille O’Neal will be back with his reality show Shaq Vs.
TV By The Numbers reports that ABC has renewed the show for this coming summer. Shaq Vs.has O’Neal pitted against other athletes in competition in their own sports. Last season he went up against athletes like Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oscar de la Hoya, and Michael Phelps. Despite being given a handicap each time, O’Neal didn’t win a single battle. Media Rights’ Capital’s Joe Hipps says that this year they may take O’Neal out of sports for some of the episodes, placing him in spelling bees or competitive eating. The show will mainly focus on sports however.
Variety reports the show will be produced by MRC and Dick Clark Productions with Orly Adelson, Will Staeger, Barry Adelman, O’Neal, Scott Messick, Perry Rogers and Steve Nash as executive producers. Only six episodes of the show will be made. MRC’s Modi Wiczyk said, “This is our third show with ABC but our first pickup. Everyone’s happy with the show, and that’s been incredibly encouraging.” The production team are already mapping out how to do the show around O’Neal’s basketball schedule.
I’m sure we are all looking forward to watching Shaq gets his butt kicked again.
