Lost is back to their old games of giving you one answer that opens up three questions. Do you remember the episode, “What Kate Did?” from season two? Well, this episode is entitled, “What Kate Does” and starts in the newly discovered temple. Sayid is alive and Sawyer is going to bust out and run.
Back at LAX, in the flash sideways, Kate (Evangeline Lilly) has hijacked a cab with Clare in it. They get away and at the first red light the cabby bolts. Kate kicks Clare out on the street and takes her wallet. She then proceeds to get her handcuffs removed and discovers that Clare’s bag only contains stuff for the baby. Kate goes back to Clare and takes her to the house of the people that are supposed to adopt the baby and they have just separated so no adoption here.
Clare goes into early labor due to the stress and Kate takes her to the hospital. Ethan the Other is the doctor at the hospital. How did that happen? He gives her medicine to slow the labor. When cops arrive Clare tells them she has no idea where Kate is and gives Kate her credit card to help.
On the island, the temple people take Sayid and during the struggle Sawyer leaves. The temple people torture Sayid saying it’s a test. Then they send Kate, Jin and two of their men (one of whom is Rob McElhenney aka Mac from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) to hunt down Sawyer. Kate discovers Mac was a guard she knocked out when she broke out of prison so she does it again and takes their guns.
Back at the temple the main man, Togan, tells Jack to give Sayid a pill. When Jack goes to talk to Sayid, Hurley has the best line of the show, “You’re not a zombie, Right?” I love Hurley. Jack goes back to Togan to tell him he did not give Sayid the pill. He tries to find out what is in the pill so Jack decides to take it himself to test the temple people. Togan beats the pill out of Jack and we discover it is poison.
The temple people believe that a sickness has taken Sayid and if it reaches his heart he will change into something evil. They tell Jack they saw it happen to his sister, Clare. Kate tracks Sawyer and finds him in Other town (Dharma Village). He was going to ask Juliet to marry him and blames himself for her death because he convinced her to stay on the island. The two temple guys track down Jin and are about to kill him when they are shot by a mysterious figure in the shadows. The figure turns out to be “infected” Clare because she looks wild and crazy.
This episode had no Locke or Richard, but it was awesome. We now know Clare is alive and may have the “illness.” Sayid probably has the “illness” and neither is a zombie. Kate was visibly bothered by the fact that Sawyer was going to ask Juliet to marry him or that he did not ask her. What did you learn in this episode?
