Many people gather around the television each year for this big football game called the Super Bowl. Then there are the rest of us who tune in for the good eats and the biggest advertising event of the year. There have been many fantastic commercials aired during the Super Bowl, and this year was no different.

Dr. Pepper called in Doctor Love, Kiss and Mini Kiss as part of their “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor” campaign. Paul Stanley introduces partner in music, Doctor Love, who’s cracking open a can of Dr. Pepper Cherry as they march toward the stage. Stanley remarks to Gene Simmons he doesn’t think it’s going to work. Of course it’ll work because it has a “little kiss” of cherry.

As the curtain drops, Kiss joins Mini Kiss onstage, singing the Kiss classic, “Doctor Love.” Mini Kiss? Wow. I’ve seen a lot of Kiss tribute bands in my time, and have even seen Kiss a few times, but Mini Kiss? How cute!

This wasn’t Simmons’ first commercial in the “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor” campaign. He appeared early in 2009 with son, Nick, who’s known for his sarcastic interactions with larger-than-life rock star dad. Both commercials featured the same tagline:

“You can’t beat a little kiss.” Simmons promises we can trust him, “I’m a doctor.”

I don’t know about you, but I want to see some certification.
