Jeff_Probst-MDOur world has evolved into a world rich with technology that makes breaking news that much easier to catch and read.  Thank goodness for Twitter.

Jeff Probst has announced on his Twitter account this morning that he’s entered a new agreement with CBS over his hosting Survivor.

“Survivor fans: I’m jazzed and wanted to share with you guys first — I’ll be back snuffing torches for two more seasons (21&22) of Survivor.”

Previously, Probst had been renewing his contract in two year periods.  This contract will only be for the coming year, ending in 2011 (Survivor has two seasons a year).  Probst promises that he’s not coming into this season looking like it’s his last, but we’ll just have to see.  I can’t imagine the show without the Emmy award winning host.

Probst went in depth as to why he’s stayed interested in the show with Entertainment Weekly.  “What has kept me interested in Survivor for 20 seasons is the study of human nature,” said Probst. “How we justify our ethics, and watching what happens to people when they are put in situations of extreme conflict.  Sometimes it’s hard to watch, and sometimes it’s enjoyable to watch, but it is always interesting to watch.”  I think this puts to words what every Survivor fan out there’s thinking.

Glad to know you’re staying Jeff!
