American_Idol_AuditionsBefore we head out to California, American Idol has decided to give us a peek at some of the other people who made it through but didn’t make it onto the audition shows. Of course, It wouldn’t be Idol if they didn’t throw in some bad auditions as well.

One memorable moment of the show was Jessica Furney. Jessica sang “Footprints in the Sand.” She also shed some light on notorious bad guy Simon. It seems Simon co-wrote the song. Who knew Simon had had a soft creamy center. Furney sang beautifully and made it through.

Everybody has a sob story about how hard it was growing up or how they overcame a really bad hair day.

Normally these stories get on my nerves; however one story tonight really touched me. Hope Jordan is one of eight kids. She has six sisters and one brother. Growing up they had no money and never got to eat supper. She would sneak food home from school and give it to her little brother, when he was hungry. She sang, “I Hope You Dance.” I almost cried.

Amongst the sob stories there ware some weird ones thrown in for good measure.  One six-foot-eight- inch tall guy came in and sounded like a 12 year old girl. It was really freaky. I am still confused about who is telling these people they can sing.

Through out the audition circuit 181 singers were given the chance to come to Hollywood.  So next week the number will start dwindling down and pretty soon we will know the top 10. I have a few favorites already.  My guesses are normally wrong though I haven’t gotten one right from the beginning since Ruben Studdard.
