That’s it! It’s over! After three decently successful seasons and halfway through a rather floppy one, ABC has decided to cancel Ugly Betty according to USA Today.
“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion,” says a statement by ABC chief Steve McPherson. “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”
Ugly Betty started in 2006 and gave curvy beauty America Ferrara her big break. It was “groundbreaking” in the idea that the central character was not a stick thin, tall, cover-of-Vogue beauty. Instead she was short, Hispanic, curvy, and absolutely adorable. Betty’s hair was always a mess, she had huge braces across her teeth, and the clothes she wore resembled Joseph’s Technicolor Dreamcoat. However, she wanted to get into the realm of fashion and succeeds at the fashion magazine Mode. She made friends, she made enemies, and she fell in love.
The show started out in a Thursday time slot and did very well but floundered after being moved to Fridays last fall. The show will continue to air on Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. EST/PT until the end of the season.

I like Ugly Betty too. It's a good show that got a bad time slot and just fell downhill. It's too bad!
