American Idol (8:00 p.m. EST, FOX)
Another day, another audition. Tonight’s American Idol episode takes us to the auditions in Dallas, TX, where we’re sure to find some gems among the crazy outlandish wanna-be stars. We have two guest judges tonight, folks, and I’m only thrilled about one of them. Our guests are Neil Patrick Harris (who I have loved since he was Dr. Doogie Howser) and Joe Jonas. Really? One of the Jonas Brothers? I’m not excited. Not at all.
State of the Union Address (9:00 p.m. EST, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, UNI, BET, CNBC, CNN, FNC, MSNBC)
President Barack Obama delivers his first State of the Union address to the nation.
Our president will address topics including job creation, the economy, the 2010-2011 budget, health-care reform, and more. After listening to our president’s Democratic viewpoint, we will be able to hear the Republican response via Virginia governor Bob McDonnell. Maybe this makes me a shallow, ignorant person, but I would rather watch our regularly scheduled programming. However, both Lost and American Idol fans are surely happy that their favorite shows aren’t being interrupted.
Toddlers & Tiaras (10:00 p.m. EST, TLC)
Okay, let me set this straight first: every since JonBenet Ramsey, I have been extremely anti-child pageantry. However…for some reason, if I see that this show is on, I can’t turn my eyes away from the screen. It’s like a train wreck that I simply can’t stop watching. On tonight’s new episode, beauty pageant hopefuls (and let’s be honest—most of the time, it’s the parents who want to win the pageant, not the kid) compete at the Southern Majestic Pageant in Charlotte, NC. Prepare for lots of big hair, too much makeup, fake teeth on children (it’s so weird), and annoyingly overbearing parents.
