Taco Bell: Smooth Moves

The Taco Bell “Smooth Moves” Super Bowl commercial of 2009 was easily one of the most unique commercials of the game because it provided humor and a great deal of strangeness to its mix.

The commercial was all about not waiting to get what you want or getting your food fast. It starts out showing a guy meeting this gorgeous girl at a party. She asks him to give her a call later and walks away. Well, less than ten feet away her phone rings and on the other end it is the same guy she just gave her number and he then asks her out to eat  and no sooner does she agree and turn around and he is right there with two steaming platters of Taco Bell goodies. Less than halfway through the meal and he has his parents show up to meet her.

It doesn’t sound as funny on paper as the commercial really is when you see it but, Taco Bell’s Smooth Moves Super Bowl commercial it really stood out to be one of the top eye catchers. And it needed to be with a marketing cost of $100,000 per second which was the going rate for the 2009. If you are going to shell out $3,000,000 for a 30 second commercial it had better register with viewers and Taco Bell succeeded with its Smooth Moves and came in ranked 4th by USA Today’s Superbowl Ads Meter.
