Last night Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry stepped in to judge the American Idol auditions in Los Angeles. Both these girls seemed to be overly “bitchy” to most contestants. I am hoping that were just trying to compensate for the show. If not,  then they need to get a reality check.  Avril Lavigne come out in black hoodie with horns on the top and wore the horns the entire day.  She has had a few good hits, but she is nowhere near the level of stardom that Paula Abdul was when she started the show. Katy Perry has had one good hit.

After hours of listing to Napoleon Dynamite, William Hung and Adam Lambert want-a-bees, a man came in with a really good voice. Avril wanted to say no to him because she didn’t think he could handle the fame if he made it.

Who does she think she is? He is a husband, father and a worship pastor.  One of the hottest Christian bands out is Casting Crowns, all of whom have a family and they where the worship leaders at their church. Avril wasn’t even going to give him a chance. She even admitted he had a good voice. Simon even voted yes on this guy, but Avril thinks she knows best.  He luckily got through anyway.

One the second day, Katy Perry was the guest judge. After a particularly scary audition, she asked, “Are this people frisked before they come in here?” Jason Green was one of those guys you have to worry about. He had that creepy “I think I’m the sexiest thing in world” look. Only thing is, those guys are not sexy.  He sang “I Touch Myself,” which was  painful but very believable.  Katy grabbed Simon for protection. After his performance he was flirting with everyone and saying very inappropriate remarks.  Randy had to call him out when he made Simon shutter. Katy remarked, “I feel dirty and that takes a lot.”

There have been an abundance of auditions this year from people with children, one hopeful’s daughter loved Simon so much Ryan took the girl to meet him. The girl loves that Simon is negative. How great is that? Simon asked, “Are you sure this isn’t my daughter?” There were no William Hungs or General  Larry Platts this episode, just a whole lot of crazy. Some golden tickets were given out and maybe the next American Idol will come from Los Angeles.
