Greek_300x300The Greek mid-season premiere happened last night and I can honestly say that the world would be a much more fun place if we could all run around dressed as we desire.  Seeing the pretty princess dresses last night made me want to dress up as a pirate for work just for the heck of it.

We started out seeing what should be the end of the show and then working backwards to see how we ended up there.  The ZBZ (Zeta Beta Zeta) girls are out in their fairytale princess dresses hurriedly burying the evidence that points to them being the group who burned down the Gamma Psi house, even though it was an accident.  Casey’s tiara got lost in the woods, they didn’t cover their tracks, and the shovel was left behind.  You’d think these girls would have watched a crime show or two and known you don’t do these things.

Casey and Cappie (whew is he a looker!) are back together and of course they have to have issues.  It wouldn’t be college drama without issues, right?  This time it’s that they’re not communicating enough.  That’s girl-speak for “you aren’t paying enough attention to me!”  Evan’s still not over Casey which is sad for Rebecca who is really trying to have a relationship work with Evan.  Calvin has a newly-outed boyfriend, Grant, but Grant has difficulties moving forward as an openly gay man.  I don’t foresee things turning out well for them, but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised.

I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who had the college experience depicted by this show, but I was not one of them.  I was more “geek” than “greek” (unless you count the women’s music fraternity I was in).  I found this show to be the exact same as any other dramedy that ABC Family has churned out, only set in college as opposed to a gym for gymnastics girls (Make It Or Break It) or a bunch of unruly teenagers (The Secret Life of The American Teenager).  I guess when you find a formula that works, you stick with it, but it gets boring after a while.  Try something different ABC Family.  Please?
