Video of the Day: Joaquin Phoenix is Back! (YAY)

Remember last year when Joaquin Phoenix showed up on the David Letterman show looking like a homeless Jim Morrison? It was the saddest thing I had ever seen, and like a lot of people, I worried that Joaquin was on drugs. After already losing one Phoenix to the perils of Hollywood, I was afraid it wouldn’t be long before Joaquin was hospitalized or worse.

Turns out he was in some deep, creative mood, writing and working on an album. Rumors say the unreleased result is brilliance incarnate, but apparently the rest of us won’t find out until some freakish Hollywood leak happens (I give it about a month before it’s available for free download on Limewire) because he has no intention of releasing it.

The good news is, the clean-shaven and well-groomed Joaquin is back, and he’s learning how to use the Internet thanks to Miley Cyrus and Liv Tyler. I really thought everyone knew how to use the Internet–that it’s a standard for babies to come out of the womb with embedded USB attachments these days, but apparently Mr. Phoenix has been far too busy exercising his musical genius to play Bejewled Blitz on Facebook.

Either way, he’s looking good, and I hope he’s signed on to do a few new movies. Maybe Letterman will invite him back on, so he can stun audiences with his amazing ability to assume any personality he wants. Actors! They’re amazing people.
