Top 10 Game Shows of All time

By Missy Armstrong on January 25th, 2010

I was surfing the web the other day and I thought about the best games shows of all time. I found a few lists, but they were pretty weak. Come on, Double Dare and no Match Game? What is wrong with these people? So, I decided to make my own list. Like it or not these are the top ten game shows, at least in my eyes.

10. American Gladiator

Gladiator

Contestants would battle it out with people in peak fighting condition. I remember staying up late to watch Nitro and Ice. There was always an obstacle course. I am a sucker for a good obstacle course.

9. Let’s Make A Deal

I love that everyone was so excited to have a chance to maybe be on this show. They would dress in wild costumes in hopes that maybe they might be chosen to play the game.

8. Cash Cab

Cash Cab

This is a fairly new game show, but it is a permanent resident of my DVR. The Show is set in New York City. Contestants hail a cab an unknowingly are placed in the hot seat. The longer the ride the more you can potentially make.

7.

The Newlywed Game

When they ask question like, “If you could out with one of your wife friends, who would it be?” or “What is your husbands biggest flaw?”, I cringe because I know someone is about to be smacked upside the head with a pillow.

6. The Price is Right

Ok, I admit this show has been on the air for a long time and has provided countless hours of entertainment. Watching people panic over the price of a toaster or pack of gum is priceless.

5. Jeopardy

Jeopardy is so fun to watch because when you do get a question right, it is something to celebrate.

4. The Match Game

Match Game

This show is so hilarious. You have no idea what is going to come out of the celebrity’s mouths. I so wish that this show was still on the air I would be ecstatic to be a contestant.

3. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

 millionaire

There is no missing this show. Just about everyone in America saw at least one episode. I will never forget when the first million was won and I was so happy I knew the answer to the question. The show did lose a little when Regis left, but it is always a challenge.

2. Family Feud

This is a classic in every sense of the word. At our house we were always yelling the answers out and trying to see who got the number one spot.

1. Press Your Luck

gs LARSON

Press Your Luck and later Whammy! are timeless. When Michael Larson figured out the sequence and won so much money and prices, the show was on all the news stations. Still to this day I watch the reruns with my son and he gets beside himself when someone hits a whammy.
