E-Trade: Babies

Super Bowl Ads 2009 | MySpace Video

Super Bowl commercials are traditionally some of the most expensive advertisements slots to be had.  Year in and year out companies jockey to claim those million dollar slots.  It goes without saying that these commercial must make an impression upon the viewing audience because there will be untold millions of viewers tuning into the big game. Super Bowl commercial have been known to make or break a company’s profit margin because there is no better time to get as much attention and exposure for your product or service other than during the big game.

One company that really hit the ball out of the park in 2009, in my opinion, is the guys over at E-Trade. Commercials have to standout and the most successful formula to implant your brand or signature in a person’s brain is to make them laugh. Funny commercial do standout, but the trick is making the 15 or 30 second commercial both funny and interesting at the same time.

E-Trade’s 2009 Super Bowl commercial featuring their baby spokesperson and his baby friend achieved the mark. The E-Trade Two Babies Commercial opens with two toddlers clicking away at a computer and talking like adults, in adult voices. Immediately you think, “this is odd,” and then you find yourself paying attention to what is being said without deciding to pay attention, if you know what I mean.

The spoke’s person toddler is going over trading news and information about the E-Trade service and the other toddler wants to do a little singing. This was a hilarious commercial that you’ll never forget and it is easily one of the top commercials of the 2009 Super Bowl game.
