Former child star Gary Coleman was arrested for domestic violence charges Sunday afternoon. Coleman supposedly assaulted his 24-year-old wife, Shannon Price. During the investigation police in Santaquin, Utah, said they found a previous warrant for Coleman. They found a failure to appear warrant for a misdemeanor. His bail is set for $1,725.
The marriage has not been a stable one since Shannon was arrested in July 2009 for domestic violence. She reportedly destroyed Coleman’s bedroom and locked him out of the house. The Colemans recently appeared on Divorce Court where she claimed he threw temper tantrums.
This is not the Diff’rent Strokes star’s first legal issue.
In 1989 Gary sued his parents for misappropriation of his trust fund. He filed bankruptcy in 1999. He has had a previous assault account. In 1998he hit a woman while working as a security guard. Coleman received a suspended sentence and paid the victim $1,655 for hospital bills.
While having an argument with his wife, Shannon Price, on July 26, 2007, Gary was given a ticket for misdemeanor disorderly conduct in Provo, Utah. Again in July of 2009, when Shannon was arrested, Gary was given a ticket for disorderly conduct.
On September 6, 2008, Coleman backed his truck over a 24-year-old man in the parking lot of a bowling alley. The man reportedly tried to take Coleman’s picture. In December of that same year he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and reckless driving charges. On January 14, 2010, he settled a civil suit with the victim for an undisclosed amount.
It is obvious that Coleman is a loose cannon and needs long-term professional help. I don’t know how he has stayed out of jail this long.
