This week’s episode of CSI: NY, entitled “Flag On The Play,” was a more curious type of episode than anything. As always, the episode was well plotted as we’ve all come to expect from the CSI: NY writing team and it held my strong interest in seeing how it  all came out, but this wasn’t the type of episode where they had a madman they were desperate to track down, so it wasn’t as intense.

The show was about the deaths of two women from a women’s pro football league who played on the same team. The show starts with a game in its closing minutes and the team comes back to win on a last-second touched down. They go into the locker room to celebrate the victory when one of the players go into the hot tub room and finds the missing teammate dead and floating in a hot tube.

The forensic evidence is very shallow at this point so the CSI: NY investigators go after the usual suspects until the results start coming in.

The first on the list is the second string quarterback who admits she didn’t like the starting quarterback, who was the woman that was found dead. She also had issues with another of her teammates that had suffered from a heart attack six months earlier so this second string QB becomes the obvious prime suspect. Unfortunately, the closer to this case was not so cut and dry as she is quickly cleared of any wrong doing.

Next on the list is the coach/trainer for the team who has a history of doping up athletes from his days in the pros.  Only his four year old daughter can attest to where he was at the time of the murder and of course she will say whatever her daddy tells her to.  After all, who would be monstrous enough to put a four year old kid through an interrogation to try to see if she is lying?

As is customary, the forensic team comes up with the evidence connecting the girls to illegal beauty enhancement treatments. It turns out the cheap procedures are being performed by a janitor posing as doctor. This guy is shooting these women up with your basic everyday silicon – you know the kind you use to plug holes in your walls and window panels. This, of course, causes all types of havoc leading to two of them dying.

Again, a very interesting episode of CSI: NY with this episode really being a representation where some people, which are already beautiful by almost every standard, will go through dangerous extremes to try to look even better.
