An American Idol Hopeful’s Story Ends in Cuffs

American Idol hit Orlando, Florida, last night with ten thousand aspiring singers waiting. Kristin Chenoweth came in as guest judge on the first day of auditions, but was called away for the second day. Orlando did seem to have more talent than the last couple of stops. However, there were plenty of crazy, bad singers to fill the hour.

Right out of the block was a man named Theo. He had some sort of crazy sequin, glitter and feather concoction on one eye and a huge sequined scarf to match. The laughs came when he couldn’t find his way out of the room. They had to tell him three or four times.

The second day had even more crazy with Cornelius singing a unique rendition of Rolling on the river, than ended with a giant rip in his paints.  when he hit the floor the was a load popping sound, truly painful.  All paints slitting aside, the decided to send him through.

Then came Jarred. He seamed like a down-to-earth country boy, but I was wrong. Jarred tried to sing “Amazing Grace.” It sounded like a cat getting run over by a lawnmower.

Kara said, “Good Lord what was that?” He refused to give up and started singing again. Randy said, “Naw, Naw Naw! Security!” Three security guys had to take him out screaming. Then a police officer cuffed him and escorted him out of the building. They are going to eat him alive in jail when they realize he got arrested trying out for American Idol.

While Jarred contemplates his choices in a cell, the last contestant of the day has already been there. 25 year old Matt Lawrence went to jail at 15 for robbing a bank with a BB gun. Luckily, his performance was amazing; even Simon called it “brilliant.”

In total, Orlando received 31 golden tickets. This is the one of the highest totals so far, second only to Boston, with 32 tickets. Next week Los Angeles gets to entertain America.

That dude that got arrested... my daughter asked if he was drunk, but I think he just wanted 15 minutes of fame.
