This weekend the 67th Golden Globe Awards took place in a fantastic, star studded event. But that wasn’t the only thing that happened this weekend!
Anyone a fan of Hawaii Five-O? Well CBS has green-lighted a remake! The writers will be Alex Kurtzman (who has worked on both of the Transformers movies and Fringe) and Roberto Orci (who has worked on Eagle Eye, The Proposal, and Fringe) and they will team with executive producer Peter Lenkov (CSI: NY) to put down a formal script. The show will be an updated version rather than like the original, which ran from 1968-1980. There’s no word on casting as of yet.
As many of us know (whether you’re excited about it or not is up to question) this is Lost‘s last season. What you may not know is that two characters will be reappearing as part of the season. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have announced that Libby (Cynthia Watros) and Michael (Harold Perrineau) will be coming back at some point, but how will remain a secret. The two producers even joked about the appearances. Cuse teased, “All your Libby questions will be answered,” and Lindelof countered with, “No, they won’t.”
Several shows got good news this weekend as they got renewed for new seasons. ABC Family announced Make It Or Break It and The Secret Life of the American Teenager will be gracing our screens again come this summer. I guess what’s playing now is technically still their first season. TNT also renewed one of their shows, giving Men of a Certain Age a second season, but with a small order of only ten episodes.
The Golden Globes took place on Sunday. Ricky Gervais hosted and made some incredibly inflammatory (but absolutely hilarious) comments throughout the show. No one was safe as he poked fun at Steve Carrell (who did a fabulous deadpan), Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler (who didn’t seem amused), Colin Farrell (who took it in stride), and many others. For example, when introducing the next presenter, he pointed to his beer and said, “I like drinking as much as the next guy… and the next guy is Mel Gibson.” Mel laughed a little and slurred his words a tad in jest, which made me happy he got the joke. If you’d like to see the list of winners, they’re here (yay Glee!!).
That’s all folks! Tune in next Monday for more weekend news!
