It’s been confirmed that Heidi Collins’ contract will not be renewed with CNN.
Collins joined CNN’s news team in 2002 after anchoring/reporting in stations in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Wichita Falls, Texas. She currently anchors CNN’s daytime newscast from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EST. After today she will be replaced by Kyra Phillips who hails from the “CNN Newsroom” (1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST). Ali Velshi will be moved up to take Phillips’ place.
CNN told TVNewser, “After seven years of dedicated service to CNN, Heidi Collins will be leaving the network on January 15th. We thank Heidi for her contributions to the network and wish her the best.” No word yet on what Collins plans to do now, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
I’m not entirely sure why CNN feels this need to release Collins. There haven’t been any scandals with her involved, not even a mention of her being difficult to work with. For goodness sakes, the woman’s intelligent, well spoken, and quite the looker. You can’t say the same for all the people given shows on CNN. Except maybe Anderson Cooper. I’m sure many when will join me in a collective “rawr” about that man.
Heidi, honestly it’s their loss. You should try FOX News. Apparently anyone can get a job there.
