With all the controversy surrounding NBC’s recent announcement to move Jay Leno back into the 11:35 time slot and push The Tonight Show to 12:05, Conan O’Brien has been rather vocal about the network’s decision. In a letter to the “People of Earth,” O’Brien expressed his disappointment after the hard work he and his staff did to try and make The Tonight Show a quality program.
He also expressed recently how hosting the show was a dream come true for him, that he used to daydream about one day filling Johnny Carson’s shoes, and just months into his opportunity to live that dream, NBC pulled the rug out from under him.
Though NBC claims it was not their intention to interfere with The Tonight Show, O’Brien is taking their decision personally. Who can blame him? He’s been incredibly vocal on the air about his feelings toward the network, and even did a little play-acting with Gary Oldman Monday night. Oldman, who is well-known for his bad-guy roles gave O’Brien a few tips on how to channel his anger into a stare of doom that not even NBC would be able to ignore.
Anyone who has ever grasped onto the edges of a dream and felt it slip through their hands the way O’Brien has can definitely sympathize. Keep working on that stare, Conan. Maybe it’ll convince NBC to take you more seriously while working through this little snag.

I love it! Gary Oldman is one of the greatest actors ever, and to see him sharing his wisdom with a disgruntled Conan was perfect.
