Jay_Leno_ShowEarlier today, the website FTVLive.com (which you have to be pay money to to read their reports) reported the rumor that Jay Leno’s show will be cancelled off of NBC (inevitably making a ton of people very happy).  NBC denies the cancellation and gives this statement:

Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance.”

Ok, so it doesn’t say whether the show is cancelled or not, but don’t hold your breath in anticipation.  The statement is supportive, but clearly does not state the show will remain on air indefinitely, only that NBC and Leno are committed to improving his performance.

There’s speculation that NBC is (surprise!

) weighing their options when it comes to the former Tonight Show host.  According to The Live Feed, the original report says some at NBC want the show yanked after the Olympics while some want to wait until after all the new pilots have come out to find a suitable replacement.

Regardless, The Jay Leno Show doesn’t seem to be going anywhere kids.  Someone please break it gently to my fellow writer, Michael Hawk!
