Make_It_or_Break_It_300x300After watching this show I am sure that teenagers these days are watching night time soap operas thinly disguised as something else and wrapped up under the new heading of “teen drama.”  You know what I had as a kid?  Saved By The Bell.  What happened to a little humor?

Anyways, Make It Or Break It is about teen gymnasts.  No, I’m not kidding.  They all study at a gym called “The Rock” which is owned by Sasha Beloff (a very Russian name for a man and yet he had a British accent).  Apparently last season, Payson was at the National Championships with her team and fell off the uneven bars onto her head, ending her career and breaking her spine.  Her teammate Kaylie Cruz managed to step up and win Nationals, which put strain on her relationships with her friends and depressed Payson even further since Kaylie gets everything.

That’s the gymnastics aspect.  The rest is just drama with a capital “D.”  There’s this Kaylie-Carter-Lauren love triangle thing that just spirals out of control and ends up with three very confused and angry teenagers.  Then there’s the Razor-Emily-Damon love triangle (are we noticing a trend here?) which ends up with Emily and Damon kissing and Razor left in the cold.  Nick tries to take back the painkiller drugs he gave Payson before Nationals and Lauren’s stolen them to blackmail him (I’m starting to think Lauren’s not so nice) and Payson finally snaps and yells at everyone.

I wish I could say I was thoroughly entertained but unfortunately, I was not.  The only upside was seeing that Candace Cameron Bure (she was D.J. Tanner in Full House) has revitalized her career as Summer.  I’m sure teens who love drama can find some way to relate to this mess, but I can’t say it’s my cup of tea.
