Casey Johnson, heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, daughter of New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, and fiancee to MTV’s Shot at Love star, Tila Tequila, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Reports say that the last time anyone spoke to Johnson was December 29, 2009, and that there is evidence that she died a couple of days before her body was actually discovered. Tequila had not been in contact with Johnson since December 28, and tweeted conflicting information on Monday after hearing the news, first stating that Casey was dead, then claiming she was just in a coma, then returning to note that she was in fact dead.
The Los Angeles Police Department has noted that they do not suspect foul play.
Longtime friend, Jasmine Lennard, noted that Johnson had a long history of erratic behavior and substance abuse, but there is no evidence at this time that her death was drug related. A long-time diabetic, sources currently believe that her condition was a contributing factor in the 30-year-old socialite’s untimely death.
A long list of celebrity friends and acquaintances, including Paris Hilton and Linsday Lohan, expressed their grief via Twitter, and the Johnson family has currently closed itself off from the public, asking for privacy during this time of mourning.
Johnson is survived by her adopted daughter, three-year-old Ava-Monroe, who is said to have been in her maternal grandmother, Sale Johnson’s custody at the time of Johnson’s death.
