If The Real World DC season premiere on MTV is a preview of this season, we are in for one roller coaster of a ride. This episode had everything from lust at first sight to a wild heated argument over God. After getting to interview three of the cast I was beside myself in anticipation of this premiere and it did not disappoint.
The season started as usual, getting to know all the new cast members. Ashley loves Obama and is very up front about her feelings. Mike is a bi-sexual with a strong belief in God. Andrew is a pretty big dork with an unbelievable lust for the ladies, so much so that he forgot his name when he met Emily. Emily grew up in a cult like religion and is trying to spend her wild oats. Callie is the down home girl next door. Ty is the guy from the ghetto. Erika and Josh are the rockers.
Everyone hit the house and claimed their rooms. Conveniently, they had one boy and one girl in each room. Andrew was talking “BS” to everybody. I am still not positive anything he says is real. He doesn’t seem to have an internal sensor that tells him some things are inappropriate.
At supper, everything was going fine until the subject of God was brought up. TY was completely against there being a God and Emily and Mike were trying to explain. Ty kept interrupting and said that all Christians where closed minded. They argued so loud the whole restaurant could hear them. Emily tried moving to another spot but Ty got louder. Eventually Emily and Ty stepped outside and she convinced him to change the subject.
In a scene only shown on the after show, Ty offended yet another roommate. That night, Ty kissed Callie, who Ty shares a room with, then he insults her in the hot tub and not 15 minutes later he is trying to sweet talk her again. Luckily Callie was smarter than Ty expected and shot him down. Score one for Callie.
Erika was listening in on Josh’s confessional and hears that he really likes her. So Callie and Erika got together and talked Josh into rooming with Ty. Ty however had gotten up at 6:00 a.m. and unpacked everything. Callie and Erika moved every piece of Ty’s stuff and hung it back up in Erika’s old closet to make him happy.
The roommates have been in DC one night and already there was a roommate change. I thought it was kind of risky going with a boy and girl in each room. Well, the preview for the rest of the season looks promising. It looked like Andrew fell down the stairs and the EMT’s were called in. I also saw a lot of debating and some making out by various people.
