The_Buried_Life_01_300x300I had the privilege to review a screener for the premiere of a new series which will air on MTV called The Buried Life.  You should definitely take the time to watch this show and here’s why.

“What do you want to do before you die?”   Ben, Jonnie, Duncan, and Dave over at The Buried Life have made a list over 100 items long of what they want to do before they kick the bucket and MTV saw fit to record them marking actions off their list.  Not only is this cool and incredibly inspirational, but for every goal they mark off the list, they turn around and help someone else achieve one of their own dreams.

So here’s the scoop on the guys. Ben Nemtin is the “IT Guy” who hails from Victoria, Canada, where he attended the University of Victoria.  He’s 23 years old and he says he’s doing this project because “my life moves pretty fast and I don’t want to be looking back and realize it’s done.”

Jonnie Penn is a 22 year old who studied History and English at McGill University in Montreal, although he claims he spends most of his time making movies.  He’s the one who cooks up the ideas and schemes that they get themselves into.

Duncan Penn also attended the University of Victoria.  This 23 year old is into surfing, going fast, playing his guitar, solving business and the group’s problems, and staring into fires.  He doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty!

Dave Lingwood is a third year student at Concordia University studying sociology.  He steps into the role of the troublemaker because of his unlimited amounts of energy.  At the young age of only 20, he’s already a competitive break dancer.

The item they mark off their list in this episode definitely fits MTV’s reputation for somewhat out there, raunchy entertainment (they sneak into the Playboy Mansion for a party).  However, it’s not really the item they cross off the list that makes the show.  Ben, Jonnie, Duncan, and Dave have a chemistry that just pops out of the screen, slaps you on the face, and makes you beg for more.  When they stop a gentleman on the street and ask him, “What do you want to do before you die?” the answer surprises them and they work hard to see it through.  The passion these guys have for helping others really comes through and you find yourself rooting for them to come through at every turn.

This show will definitely grab your attention.  The Buried Life premieres January 18th at 10:00 p.m. EST. on MTV.
