Jake Pavelka: Introducing the New ‘Bachelor’

Jake Pavelka is the latest in a long string of good-looking bachelors that have headed to ABC to find love. On the 14th season of the popular reality show The Bachelor: On The Wings of Love, Pavelka stands before a buffet of 25 beautiful woman, getting ready to sample them one by one.

The 31-year-old is a down-home-handsome kind of guy, who is a pilot-prodigy, if there is such a thing. At the age of 12, Pavelka had saved enough money to take flying lessons, and literally took off. He learned so quickly that by the age of 16, he was flying solo. Now, as an Atlantic Southeast Airline pilot, he is the epitome of the man in uniform, and quickly became the fan favorite to win Jillian Harris’ heart last season on The Bachelorette.

Fortunately for ABC, Harris didn’t listen to the fans, and instead chose her own favorite bachelor, Ed Swiderski. Now the studio’s ideal bachelor can “work it” on a show of his own. Studio executives are offering Pavelka a bit of help as he gets started, with a major twist for the bachelorettes.

The ladies will have to impress not only Pavelka, but also Harris and Swiderski. While the love birds from The Bachelorette are helping Pavelka, they will be announcing a bit of their own news. Could that be a wedding date?

But I digress. After Pavelka was rejected by Harris, he returned to her side to warn her that the man she was falling for (singer Wes Hayden) was not who he appeared to be, and in fact had a girlfriend waiting for him at home (a fact that Hayden denies). Some fans were taken by Pavelka’s honesty and courage, while others made fun of him, believing him to be weak, because after his final meeting with Harris, he leaned over a balcony and began to cry. The High School football player and self-professed geek, will have another chance to reveal who he really is to the reality tv world on January 4, 2010 , so you can judge for yourself.

Pavelka admits that he hasn’t been lucky in the romance department. His two main attempts at love failed, even after purchasing a home with one girlfriend and dating another for five years, before the relationship ended. But you never know, despite ABC’s lackluster job at playing cupid, Pavelka says he believes in the process, so at the very least, he hasn’t lost hope in that happy ending.
