As long as there have been celebrities in the spotlight, hordes of adoring fans gather around them in search of autographs, photos and the opportunity to shake the hand of someone they both respect and admire. Fans tend to linger between feeling shy and unworthy to appearing overzealous and somewhat crazy in the presence of their favorite stars, but for the most part they all recognize that celebrities are regular people just like they are.

Being regular people just like everyone else, even celebrities need a little personal space from time to time, as writer/director, James Cameron (The Sarah Connor Chronicles), recently demonstrated when approached by a fan at the Los Angeles International Airport holding a poster for Cameron’s recent box-office hit, Avatar.

Cameron swore at the man right off the cuff, calling him an ***hole and eventually telling him to get out of his f***ing personal space, to which the angry fan replied, “I’m an ***hole because I ask someone I admire for their autograph that makes me an ***hole? I make $15-an-hour at work to go see your film and I’m an ***hole?”

So, was Cameron justified in his response? Do celebrities deserve to be subjected to constant fans seeking autograph? You be the judge.
