Throughout the year, a number of video phenomenons hit the net, tickling the funny bone of viewers worldwide. As this year rapidly comes to a close, I thought it might be fun to countdown the top five YouTube videos from the last year.
The number five most watched YouTube video of 2009 was the Evian Roller Babies commercial, which poses the observation: “Let’s observe the effects of Evian on your body…”
As “Rapper’s Delight,” by Dan the Automater, kicks off in the background, a host of amazingly talented babies on roller skates show off their mad skills in the park. From five baby jumps and Evian bottle obstacles, to break dancing and fence hanging, I wouldn’t want to come up against these little stunt devils on the half-pipe.
I’m thinking these babies may have come from the 1980s though. For one, they aren’t wearing kneepads or helmets, as would be customary for today’s daredevil baby. They’re also wearing roller skates, as opposed to the more popular in-line version of today, and last, but not least, I had a boombox just like that when I was twelve years old.
Either way, these babies are hilarious, and there is no question as to why this video earned more than 14 million downloads and the number five slot in YouTube’s top videos of the year.
