SYTYCD_300x300Twenty-year-old krumper, from Boston, MA, Russel Ferguson, ladies and gentleman. Despite limping onto the stage early-on and admitting that he messed up his leg, Ferguson’s taped performances from prior shows were enough to dazzle viewers for the win.

As the night wore on, and the final six were eliminated one by one, it was down to Russel and fellow competitor Jakob Karr. Russel and Jakob came out onto the stage, Russel still limping from the pain, but once the judges announced that he won the competition, he began to leap and dance, tearing off his shirt and screaming with glee. The rush of adrenaline and the prospect of $250,000 is enough to make anyone feel pain-free, even if just for a moment.

Many viewers were put off by the rushed season, which ended with a six competitor finale and a host of celebrity entertainment, including performances by Mary J.

Blige and Jennifer Lopez. Eliminated one by one over the course of the two hour finale, Ferguson was blown away when he was the last one standing. Tear-eyed, Ferguson claimed that he had waited his entire life for such a moment, and he came out of the womb ready to dance.
