On this week’s episode of Two and a Half Men the legendary Carl Reiner guest stars and is out-and-out hilarious as a horny old television producer who has the “hots” for the housekeeper Berta. Love is in the air, but with the smell of arthritis medication and foot powder instead of roses.

One of the funniest parts of this episode was when Reiner’s character made a comment about his chestnuts roasting by the open fire while sitting too near the fireplace and in the true writing style of the Two and a Half Men‘s scripts it was immediately followed up with another one liner by Mrs. Harper.

The episode’s plot was about Charlie getting Jake to cheat on his girl friend.

Of course Jake at first understood right from wrong but Charlie figured out a way to blur the moral divide and get Jake to step over into the role of a “player.”

It all started when this girl at the beach showed an interest in Jake and Charlie convinced him to go talk to her. All the while Jake was more interested in corn-dogs and how to coax money out of Charlie in order to get them. A cute line in this scene was when Charlie asked if Jake’s life was supposed to stop because his girlfriend wasn’t around and Jake said, in his matter-of-fact 15 year old way, “Yep, that’s the agreement we made.”  It made me think of the innocence of new relationships.

The new girl is only visiting for the holidays and so Charlie was able to impress upon Jake that this fact made it so that it really wasn’t cheating. So the cheating, that really wasn’t cheating, was moving along full speed when guess who shows up unexpectedly at the front door? Yep, Jake’s girlfriend and mother bringing him his Christmas gift and Jake is caught in the middle of two angry teenage girls.

Chelsea came in just as the two girls stormed off to learn that Charlie had put Jake up to it and she was pretty ticked to find out what Charlie did and did not consider cheating.  By the end of the show there was a frosty dinner with literally everyone at the table being mad at Charlie. All the while Reiner’s character was still trying to score points with Berta by grabbing or rubbing her leg under the table.

This was about what you come to expect from a Two and a Half Men episode – a whole lot of great humor. It had lots of laughs using a ton of one-liner jokes and comments while developing an overall humorous theme.
