Better Off Ted is back for its second season and everyone is back to their old tricks. Veridian Dynamics, Ted’s employer, is the leader in scientific research. Now they have decided to pair employees up with other employees that match genetically.
This season starts with Ted and Linda vowing that they will not date from the list the company provided. Of course, as soon as a pretty girl approaches Ted, he throws it all out the window and agrees to go out with her. Greg (Taye Diggs) asks Linda out. She refuses because of the vow. Then when she finds out that Ted flaked and she runs to Greg. On the dates, Linda finds out that Greg is crazy. He dresses up like a bear and hides in the park. Ted has a pretty good date, until he blurts “I love you,” after sex. Then he tries to cover it up only to dig an ever deeper hole with lies.
He tells her that he is an Indian and makes up a fake language. The couples end up not being as compatible as the company had thought.
Meanwhile, Phil and Lem are trying to create edible space moss for NASA. Phil is asked by the company to have a vasectomy, which sends him into a spiral. He tries to get his medical records, but no one will give them to him. He starts doing research and various things to try to find out why the company does not want him to procreate. Lem is propositioned by the boss, Veronica, to give her his sperm. Fearful, he agrees. Phil and Lem try to get ted to get Phil’s medical records and talk to Veronica about not using Lem’s sperm.
Phil and Lem are so preoccupied with the company’s decisions they can’t work on the moss. This prompts Veronica to go steal Phil’s medical records and impress Lem enough to give her some of his sperm.
This episode of Better Off Ted was funny and pretty well written. Taye Diggs was hilarious as the extremely handsome, crazy guy. There were no useless story lines; everything you saw fit into the plot well. I enjoyed the show and can’t wait for more episodes.
