Tonight’s episode of Glee began innocently enough, with the Gleeks fearful of getting their Glee Club photo put in the Thunderclap Yearbook. (Did you chuckle at that name, while entertaining  thoughts of other meanings?) So why were they fearful? Because the only reason for the photo’s existence was to be defaced by the ‘cool kids’. Rachel took advantage of her photo shoot and persuaded the photographer to let the Glee clubbers perform for him in the mattress advertisement that he was getting ready to direct. The kids turned a stodgy uninspired script into a playful romping-acrobatic feat, on the mattresses, while singing “Jump” by Van Halen. As payment, the company gave mattresses to the students, and if they kept them, disqualification from sectionals would take place.

In a sad twist of fate, it looked like Glee Club would be over, as Mr. Shu had used one mattress, and it couldn’t be returned. But in the end, good old Mr. Shu took the fall for the students, and removed himself as their leader, so the disqualification didn’t have to happen.

Well, as I mentioned, the episode began with innocence, but a dramatic twist was added, when Will discovered his wife’s fake belly in her dresser drawer. I was elated to watch Will realize the deception and betrayal of his wife Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), as she hid her faked pregnancy from him. Not because I enjoyed his suffering, but because it proved that he is really  more wise than he previously appeared. Terri has grated on me since the show began, with her whiny self-centered narcissism, and I have been hoping that her character would get the boot, and still do, that is unless she begins to have some redeeming qualities. It does look like a divorce may be a future happening, or does it? When Jessalyn Gilsig was interviewed about her employment status, she had this to say, “We go back in January and I’ll be back with them in January, so keep hope alive that Terri will stick around. I’ll hang in there as long as I can. Poor Terri. Maybe I’ll replace the principal. Maybe I’ll be vice principal. Hmmm…”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for Will and Terri, when the popular series returns in January.
